# Document Generation Guide

> Generate LMA templates from CDM data

## Overview

The Document Generation workflow allows you to create LMA (Loan Market Association) templates from your extracted CDM data.

## Prerequisites

* CDM data extracted from credit agreements (via Document Parser)
* LMA template files available in the system

## Step-by-Step Process

### 1. Access Document Generator

Navigate to the **Document Generator** tab in the main application interface.

### 2. Select CDM Data Source

Choose from your library of extracted documents:

* Browse recent documents
* Search by borrower name or deal ID
* Filter by date or status

### 3. Choose Template

Select an LMA template:

* Standard loan agreement templates
* Custom templates (if available)
* Template preview available

### 4. Review Field Mappings

The system automatically maps CDM fields to template fields:

* Review automatic mappings
* Adjust mappings if needed
* Verify data accuracy

### 5. Generate Document

Click "Generate Document" to:

* Populate template with CDM data
* Apply AI-powered field population for missing data
* Render final document

### 6. Download or Save

* Download generated document (DOCX format)
* Save to library for future reference
* Share via FDC3 context

## Field Mapping

### Automatic Mapping

The system automatically maps common fields:

* Party names and details
* Loan amounts and currencies
* Interest rates and terms
* Payment schedules

### Manual Adjustment

You can manually adjust mappings:

* Change field assignments
* Add custom fields
* Remove unnecessary fields

## AI Field Population

For fields not present in CDM data, the system uses AI to:

* Infer missing values from context
* Generate appropriate placeholders
* Suggest field values based on patterns

## Best Practices

1. **Verify Data**: Always review CDM data before generation
2. **Check Mappings**: Ensure field mappings are correct
3. **Review Output**: Review generated documents before finalizing
4. **Template Updates**: Keep templates up to date

## Troubleshooting

**Template not populating correctly:**

* Check CDM data completeness
* Verify field mappings
* Review template structure

**Missing fields:**

* Use AI field population
* Manually enter missing data
* Update source CDM data
